Earth Day!

Happy Earth Day Everyone!

 

As a new environmentalist, I want to turn my room greenish this weekend. Today is not a good idea because the lack of time and concentration to college. It actually makes me sad because today suppose to be all about “Earth” but I decided to celebrate it on a weekend. Um, I guess it’s ok because Mother Earth understands my situation. Besides, Earth Day should not suppose be celebrated in one day but everyday of our lives.

 

To those new about turning “green”, I suggest you visit this site http://green.yahoo.com/earthday it has a lot of suggestions that will make your house greenish. I will start in my own environment- my room! Hehe. I am sure changing my room “once” again will shorten my clothes, shoes, personal stuff, and books(?). It will actually go to donations not trash again. So, I am still proud of myself that I can help others by using my own stuff.

Environment

After watching this video, I am now eager to take Environmental Politics next semester.

 

I personally think some people are careless about the environment (not pointing to any specific ethnicity or country). Argh! If only I can do something internationally about it. Someday Roxanne, Someday. With no political power, all I have to do is appreciate mother earth. Well, at least I know what to do this summer! Join an organization and change the world! Wohoo.. It will be fun. Besides, politics right now is.. Don’t know. Some politicians are probably busy doing other policies.

I tend to be optimistic on politicians in that country because criticizing them will only make things worse without proper incidence (and I do not want to say something really mean, hehe!).

Going back to the video, it is a country in Asia (just watch the video) cutting trees for Palm Olive to make consumers beautiful. Can the government of that country do something? Can just people accept what they look like in the mirror? And why do we need Palm Olive to make ourselves beautiful, can chemist experiment on something different? Gosh! People! Good thing I do not use this product.

Please do correct me (via email located in the upper right side) about this entry because I am writing based on what I saw and think.

Whatever is the answer to my questions, I just hope people realize how important the environment is. Trees give us oxygen, food, and protection against floods. If I have enough money to travel in that country, privilege, and more knowledge I will go there and talk to those mindless people. L

Last Day Of Spring Break

One week of college-free, stress-free, and pure relaxation is great!

I never had the time for myself in a while (except for summers and holiday events). My Spring Break is definitely worthy because its my first time to check in at Wynn Hotel and experience the "tourist" life. Hehe. We only spent three days there because I kind of had a "homesick" phobia so I immediately asked my parents if we can stay home instead. I do not know why, but.. Maybe it is a fact that I am a "Home" person or being in Las Vegas makes me think, "Hey.. Why Am I In A Hotel If I am in the same state?".
 
Living inside my comfort zone is simply the happiness thing in the world. I am the Queen of the Universe!! Haha. I can do whatever I want, whenever I want. Beat that!
 
My Spring Break is very simple: relax, surf the net, check in at Wynn Hotel, inside my room - resting, and meditating.
 
There is nothing more I need.

Wynn Hotel Adventure

First of all I apologize for not posting pictures because it is more a family affair than a vacation.
 
April 8 2009 (first day) - My mom and I decided to eat first before going straight to our suite because we are soo hungry. Hehe. The buffet was great! I never had many choices from desserts to main dishes. After eating, we went window shopping in elite shops such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Versace, etc. The shops you see in the Wynn Hotel Website. Do not worry, I did not bought anything from their shops because I rather use "that" money for something really really important.
 
April 9 2009 - Gosh, it is my first time to go swimming after waking up! Yes, I didn't ate breakfast and greet my parents "Good morning". Just change from my sleeping attire to swimsuite. I blame it to my brother. Hehe. However, we ate breakfast in the pool area. The pool, by the way, is really big! Wow..My brother and I "can" play and hide and couldn't find each other for 5 minutes. My cousins went to the Wynn Hotel to swim there too. Thanks guys!. We talked about the past and our wonderful childhood moments. *cries* then ate dinner in Okada Restaurant with the whole family.
 
April 10 2009 - Last day.. I didn't do anything but pack because our check-out time is at noon.

Spring Break!

I am soo late writing this entry because Spring Break started two days ago. Haha, mind you.. I was soo busy distressing myself. One week of fun and stress-free college is what I need to get to know myself again. I mentioned in my other entry, Hungry for Spring Break, that I will celebrate it in the Wynn Hotel.

 

Yehey, everything is set; we are already booked in a wonderful suite and a comedy show wating for us upon our check-in. Thank you mother and father. And yes yes, there is the swimming pool! I might swim in the late-afternoon because I do not like the sun reflecting me when I am swimming.. Maarte noh? But I will blog in the pool area so you know what it looks like.

 

Aside from my soon-to-be Wynn Adventure, I will also shop in the Fashion Show Mall and different hotels because they are sooo close to each other. If you are living in Las Vegas, you know what I mean. Speaking of shopping, good thing I have a debit not a credit card because I do not want to owe anything to the bank. I want to be responsible and regretful in my spending.

 

I cannot wait for my Wynn Hotel Adventure

Earth Hour

My brother and I participated in "Earth Hour" for the first time.
 
Wohoo, I never been to a very very dark surrounding before. Our house is soo darkish from our rooms to the living room (where I stayed for an hour). Being a participant of Earth Hour, I learned that saving lights can not only help prevent climate change it can also save us a lot of electricity. With today's crisis, everybody will do anything to save so.. Saving electricity is a good start. I haven't ask my father how much our electricity cost per month but I am sure it's high because our mother always ask us if we turn our lights off in our rooms.

Thanks to my laptop I am TYPING this during "Earth Hour". Nothing much happen today.. I am sitting here minding my own business waiting for "Earth Hour" to be over while my brother is somewhere minding his own business upstairs. It is actually scarier upstairs because there are so many rooms.
 
Earth Hour started early for most countries and U.S. states because of the time difference. So I want to say congratulations to all who participated. It is really hard to shut off all lights because there are things need to be done. I understand. Good thing I finish some of my college work early because I do not want it to interfere with "Earth Hour".
 
Looking at my laptop's clock.. thirty more minutes!

With all the lights off it is soo quiet downstairs. I feel very peaceful! 
 
I have nothing much to write right now.. Just enjoying the dark and peaceful "Earth Hour". Maybe I should check my dogs in the backyard!... Ok, back from the backyard, I realize my dogs are inside the house. Hehe. It is actually more peaceful outside because of the cold blizz.
 
Waiting, waiting, waiting.. twenty-three more minutes! My brother decided to join me in the living room.
 
PS: Thank you mother and father for letting us join "Earth Hour". They went somewhere else so my brother and I can enjoy the darkness in our house. Be safe guys and we love you so much.
 
I feel like meditating right now..
 
Ten more minutes.. I am actually proud of myself and my brother for nearly accomplishing "Earth Hour".

Four more minutes.. We can do this!

Hungry for Spring Break

One more week, one more week, one more week.
 
It is so unfair our spring break starts late comparing to other colleges. In fact, my brother started his spring break early so he was able to play more Resident Evil 5 than me. Hehe, but we manage to finish the game together.

For my Spring Break, I am spending it here. Thank you mother and father for the wonderful vacation gift. Wohoo, another hotel adventure for me! I cannot wait to go swimming, shopping, and possibly eating in this wonderful five-star hotel. It is actually my first time to stay in this hotel so I tend to schedule nothing but relaxation. Hehe. My father is a poker player so we got discounts. Awesome. It is also next to the Fashion Show Mall so I won't have a problem being bored. Just wake up, get dress, walk for a few minutes and.. Here I am in the Fashion Show Mall.
 
My mom and I did a Wynn Hotel adventure to recognize the place more. It is huge! Gosh, the shops inside the hotel are way to pricey but if someone has money I do not see any reason not to buy it. My favorite store, Coach, is located in the Venetian Hotel so we have to walk (which only takes a few minutes) to get there. Lovely bags but I was not able to purchase one because it did not fit my style. Hehe, besides.. I am inlove with my Black Madeline Bag.

Friday

I have to no idea why I update so much this month.
 
As of today I have an internship and event scheduled (if you are interested to know) then rush home to do a Discussion Question online. Regarding the event, I need to talk to my co-workers more details about it because I am just new to work. I am scheduled to work at 11am-5pm. Yehey!! I am actually excited to work with my co-workers and constituents. Entering Politics/Public Service is an opportunity to help others. I won't deny the fact that I want to be a public servant because I want to change, help, and see a better world.

I want to travel to third world countries and work on ideas how to improve the people, I want serve in whatever agency to spread my learning in Political Science so I can make a difference, I want to make friends with everyone so we can be happy and peaceful, etc etc etc.. There are a lot of things I want to do in life that are not worthy of writing it down. I am sure it takes a lot of courage, love, and dedication.

Whatever happens, I want the world to be happy.

Thursday

When it comes to college, thursday is my favorite day because it is the end of college work. Some college students do not have classes on fridays.
 
Today is thursday.. Yes! meaning no college work tomorrow. Hehe, but I have many scheduled plans tomorrow (internship and an event). SO, tonight I have to finish some college assignments so it won't be hassle in my schedule tomorrow.
 
So far, today is great.. I love my surrounding and being alone gives me a peace of mind. I do not mind sitting alone in this place because comforting myself away from college work and whatever drama I had this week makes me destress. Do not get me wrong, I love talking to people but being alone is relaxing. I think of things, events, and happenings in the past that I need to fix or missed so much. Ah, I do not want to cry in this entry.
 
Most of the time I like to think of the past than the future because my childhood memories are the best. I will not trade it for anything. For example, when my family and very close friends always go to Subic Bay every weekend to go swimming.. Gosh, I miss those moments! I am like 8-12 years old or something. My family loves traveling! We use to drive nine hours just to go to Baquio City.. Hehe, I love that place. I recommend people to visit it in the summmer.
 
Time change.. So it is very sad to let go those memories. Maybe someday when I have a family we will go back to Subic Bay or Baquio City to renew my childhood memories.

White

While cleaning my closet, I notice I have a lot of white shoes, bags, t-shirts, and long sleeves.

 

Wow, how did this happen? Is it a fact that I love white or is it “the” color that matches with all the different ones. Maybe. Let’s say someone is wearing all black and a white shoes, does it still good look? Yes, because for my own opinion “white” fits with every color; whether it is orange, yellow, green, etc.

 

It also symbolizes simplicity (which I am successfully achieving right now). But the problem is keeping it clean. Gosh, like today.. I was eating my favorite Deli Sandwich and drinking Medium Pepsi and I had to put many tissues next to me to make sure if the Medium Pepsi spill in my white t-shirt I can easily remove it. For the past semesters, I never spill Pepsi in my non-white t-shirts so I guess having many tissues looks awkward (But we will never know when the “spill” movement comes right?).

 

When it comes to white clothing, it is the hardest thing to give away because it is my favorite color in the world.  It is irreplaceable because it is hard for me to find the exact white shoes again cause’ I am too lazy or too busy to shop.  Ok, that did not make sense. Let’s just say again, if you mix white with yellow it will probably turn bright yellow but NOT bright white. See, it is irreplaceable.

 

Besides, wearing white looks clean. Remember the old saying “Cleanliness is the best policy” to be honest, I only read that sign in public comfort rooms or somewhere that needs to look clean always. Oh well, white makes everyone look clean because it is pure simplicity.

Whatever happens, I make sure I have laundry detergent downstairs if I need to clean my white clothes fast. Hehe.  

I love white!
