Things

Random Things happened to me this month.

For the first time I was absent in college because I was sick. Great! Major make-up for the missed-two days.

Actually, I went to college for my PSC302 class to submit an assignment then drove straight home. In PHIL225, we had a guest speaker so being there is not that important. Even I am sick at home, I was able to typed my PHIL225 "Character" Paper (four pages long) and submitted the following day. In PUA241 (my online class), I typed my assignment and submitted on the due day. In DAN104 (my other online), watched video, wrote an evaluation, and submitted before 11:55pm.

In GEOL120, we had a quiz and review for the midterm tomorrow. Great.

Aside from college and being sick, I had my first internship work two days ago. It was a simple introduction: functions, definitions, getting to know about my work, and people in the office. It was great! I cannot wait to work with you guys next week.

Through my internship, I will have a taste of the real world of working as teams and self-discipline. Do not worry I already adopt these qualities before I entered my first internship. It is just a fact that, entering public service requires a lot of discipline and friendliness which I will not have a problem. I love meeting new people and being friends with them.

I am the kind of person who is open to everyone. Just come to me and I will listen to you. I am not selfish or antagonistic. It is not even in my vocabulary. *smiles*.

Making more friends makes the world HAPPY and PEACEUL!

Tiring yet lovable Saturday

I woke up early in the morning so I could tag along with my brother to buy a Dr. Dre Heaphones. Sadly, the tech store in our area was sold out. So we decided to go to another branch and.. Yes! They had only ONE Dr. Dre Heaphones left. How lucky is that!

Since we had nothing to do we decided to visit my cousin's (30-45 minutes drive from our place) house. Yes! I haven't seen them in a long time. We talked and ate Filipino Food together.

After our visit to my cousin's house, my brother asked me if I liked to tour the Las Vegas Athletic Club. I agreed. It has a nice indoor swimming pool, carbio fitness room (covers the whole floor), juice bar, etc. Maybe next time when I am free from college work, I might go swimming there. But first, I need to buy a swimsuit attire. Hehe!

Just arrived home from the Las Vegas Athletic Club, My mother asked us if we want to take our dogs (pug and chihuahua) a walk. My brother and I agreed. We walked and ran for one hour around our Area. Not to mention.. Many people were also jogging and walking their dogs. To give you a fact, my little chihuahua ran faster than I am. Bad dog! Hehe.

To summarize my saturday this is what I did: Went to Bestbuy, visited my cousin's house, toured the Las Vegas Athletic Club, and walked our dogs.

Tiring yet lovable. I never became so adventurous like this. Well, maybe when I was young..

Even I'm tired I still did not mess up my schedule because I found extra time to study for my PSC302 midterm on Thursday. Let's see if I can find time to go swimming in the Las Vegas Athletic Club next saturday.

From College With Love

While studying for GEOL120 I decided to update my blog. Hehe. I "guess" it helps when my laptop is facing my direction and telling me "USE ME, Roxanne". Argh! If my laptop can talk, it will tell me "Stop using me Roxanne! I am so tired.. Make me rest". Haha, I will probably reply "Sorry, Sony... I need you right now, want me to charge your battery?"

Anyways..

I am here at the college's library studying for a GEOL120 test tomorrow. Wow, another test? *cries*. Being in college is, somehow, great yet hard because a lot of studying, reading, typing notes to do.. It takes patience and hardwork to get that DIPLOMA. I cannot imagine myself two years from now yelling to the world "I am finally a College Graduate". Ah, maybe maybe.. But right now, I want to "love" college because I am consistent once I graduate.. It will take me time to get my Masters Degree.

There are many things to consider taking a Masters Degree: MONEY, time, more work, thesis (I had one in High School and it was Hard), etc.

I talked to my parents about taking a Masters Degree and they are fine with it. Yehey! The question is "what major am I taking?"

Wait.. Hang on.. RELAX, Roxanne.. You have time.

I am just a second year college student and whatever decisions I made I want to make sure I am happy.

My room

This weekened I schedule myself to organize my room again! Ahhh.

Last year I describe my room as "Lady Bright" because it is so bright in the morning. I do not even need an alarm clock to wake me. Just give me a window and a sun, I am a-ok.OR It is also a fact that the sun is facing my direction. Haha.

Anyways, whatever happens my plan is set! I already have a big garbage bag to put my useless material for donations. There are old things I still do not know what to do like picture frames, books(?), and clothes. Oh well, I will make my final decision on saturday.

All I have to say is, I cannot wait to organize my room because I want IT to symbolize me

Play with me again!

It is past midnight and I have no idea why I am still awake (maybe it is a fact that I have no college later, hehe). While browsing files in my laptop, I saw my "Philippines" Album.. Ah!, gosh.. It is full of old pictures in my younger years. Paano napunta dito? Maybe I kind of saved it in a disc and accidentally insert it in my hard drive. Oh well, I usually put my Philippines pictures in my photo album.

My favorite picture:

Photobucket

This was taken on June 15, 2002 (I am just 13 years old) at Ocean Adventure, Subic Bay. I remember playing with these two whales for 30-45 minutes. How cute! Me and Whales playing in the sea. If only I could stay longer. After playing, I immediately asked my parents to let me take pictures with them (obviously granted) and bid goodbyes. Aww!

I love whales! Maybe someday I can have a pet whale.. Hehe..

Sweet Saturday

Typing this at midnight is great! RELAXation, here I come..

Saturdays are usually my college-free day because I can relax and sleep more. I do not know why but this is the only day I am available. monday to thursday are my college days, fridays are my review and late-homeworks, and Sundays are my last-minute review and planning for next week. Saturdays are the only days I am full of myself. I do relax everyday, but Saturdays without college work makes me meditate, do whatever, destress, and stop worrying about my duties.  I feel like a kid again! Hehe.

Looking at my Windows Calendar, there is nothing schedule for me today.

THE only thing will destroy my Sweet Saturday if I have huge tests and essays due on a Monday which is impossible to study/finish on Sunday. If it happens, I will make early plans to guarantee I will finish it on time SO.. I can spend my saturdays in my room sleeping/relaxing. If not, I will say Bye-bye to my sweet saturday and do college work on that day (which happens a lot). Anyways, I am tired last night doing two assignments (PUA241 and DAN104) so I will rest for-a-while

I will try to update this entry later.

-------------

I am back! Currently watching "SpongeBob SquarePants". Its been a while since I last watch this late-afternoon television show. Who doesn't love SpongeBob? It is my second favorite episode next to Rugrats. Awww, I miss watching that kiddie show.. When I first came to United States in first grade for a vacation. I was trying to find a good kiddie television show, since I am not familiar with the Television channels. I was stuck with Nickelodeon and this kiddie show starts playing named "Rugrats". After watching it, I suddenly fell in love with Rugrats! The first Rugrat episode I watched when Phil and Lily got into a baby commercial (Baby Commercial/Little Dude; Season 1 Episode 4: First aired 9/8/1991). It was replayed during my United States Vacation. SEE! I can still remember the episode! Hehe, Rock on Rugrats! This show brings back my childhood memories. Too bad it does not air anymore in Nickelodeon(?).

Minor Injury

I cannot believe I had a minor injury in my own room! Idiocy is one word to describle it.

I was walking around my room when one of my lower closet handles open.. It hitted my left foot and I ended up in the floor for a few minutes. I finally stood up and could not move my left foot so I walked slowly back to my bed and rested. Still in-pain, I have nothing to do but relax. Sleeping is one good option.

I slept until early Sunday morning and could move my left foot in-a-bit but still in-pain. I have nothing to do but report it to my parents. My parents offered a pain reliever and NOW, I am resting with my laptop to entertain me.

I have school tomorrow and I hope it will not interfere..

First week of Spring Semester

Ah, first week of Spring Semester is over.

Quite relaxing because ALL lectures are introductions, assessments, and discussions.  No serious matter happened. My afternoon schedule is flexible because I wake up late afternoon and end college early evening. No morning drama and ignoring my alarm clock everytime I do not want wake up. Sorry, this time I am not a morning person. I am only a morning person if I sleep early and wake up around 5am. Which is impossible if I have classes and things to do afterwards.

My Spring Semester Professors are cool! They make jokes everytime class starts, I do not know if they will still do it when "serious matter" starts. So far, my favorite teacher is my PSC302 Professor. Students in the class can joke to her and she ends up laughing even the "joke" is not that funny. My PSC302 classmates has a very GOOD sense of humor. I actually read testimonials about her in ratemyprofessor.com, to tell you the truth.. Those review are very unaccurate, I do not know why they criticize her like that (maybe they fail her class). Whatever their reasons, I fully respect this professor!

My other classes: GEOL120, PUA241, PHIL225, and DAN104 are ok.

GEOL120 is a very tech-class. I never use an "e-instruction" clicker before, which is a clicker to use for answering quizzes, extra credit, and whatever my professor wants us to do VIA computer screen than writing it in a piece of paper. Basically, there is a question in the computer screen and we can just point the "e-instruction" to the screen then CLICK our answer. After a few seconds, we will know our result. Isn't it a better way of testing?

PUA241 did not start this week because our Professor is having a problem with the software. So all our discussions, assigments, and syllabus will be posted next week. Aww, I am so excited to be in this class. Oh well, next week is another learning development then.

PHIL225 my favorite class! He was my former PHIL124 professor. His concept of teaching is the best! it is about learning not grades :) Thank you.. This is my last Foreign Culture requirements and I am very thankful to have him as a memorable of Foreign Culture. But the difference between PHIL124 and PHIL225 is.. the reading. For example, this weekend I have to read thirty-three pages about Indian Philosophy then write questions for our public discussions.. If I did not have my questions ready, he "might" be disappointed. In PHIL124, we do not do things like that. We come to class, write notes, and.. End.. Now, it is serious busness.

DAN104 the coolest class ever! I love watching dance videos and evaluating it afterwards. The lectures is about the concept of "dances" in film.. Which reminds me I have to watch three videos and answer this week's discussion question before 11:55pm. This class reminds me of 1987 "Dirty Dancing" starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey. I love the theme song "(I've Had) The Time of My Life" and the dance scene. I wish someone can dance with me like what Patrick Swayze did! Great Choreographer!

PS: Need to do my DAN104 discussions now.

Back to College!

Today is officially the first COLLEGE day of the year for UNLV students.

I only have one class which is Geol120 so.. Nothing much to expect today. I hope this class will be great because the main topic is "Natural Disaster". As a student, I want to know the causes, prevention, and outcome of this soo called "Natural" Disaster. Who do we have to blame? Global Warming, Careless People, or the Government? Ahh.. Stop being political here Roxanne!

My Geol120 has not started so I will get back to this entry later.

Right now, I am sitting in a cubic-whatever-they-want-to-call-it desk typing..Yeah I know, BORING! I just finish eating my favorite meal of the century: Deli Sandwich Ham. How I miss the YUMMY taste. There wasn't many people in the library, umm. I wonder why? Usually the FIRST day of classes are the ones with many many people roaming around the campus looking for their classes. Now, it's like everybody is sitting quietly and minding their own business. Oh well, time change..

28 minutes until my Geol120 class starts. I hope they have interent connection inside the classroom so I can still fool around when the lecture is boring, hehe.. Just kidding! Yeah right?! I know I will FOOL around.

I promise I will get back to this entry when Geol120 is over to give you feedbacks.

=========================

I am back! Geol120 is great yet challenging.

Our professor is very entertaining, he has his own ways of teaching.

1."the e-instruction" clicker, students can use this to CLICK answer from the computer screen than write it in a piece of paper. Let me tell you, it is fun too! I took advantage by clicking too many buttons at the same time. Hehe.

2. it makes me appreciate mother earth more; later in the lectures we will talk about Climate Change, which leads somehow to Global Warming. We only have ONE earth and we should take care of it.

3. Pictures, Powerpoints, Disaster movies make students visualize real events and issues to help them learn about Natural Disasters more

THE challenging part

1. Quizzes - we have "pre-quiz" base on the readings and regular quizzes base on the notes (which is 15 percent of our grade)

2. Definitions - wow, new terms I never heard before.

I have no problem with the "challenging" part because I AM in college now. College students should be more responsible and studious!

PS: I need to read Chapter 1 now.

Hello 2009!

Happy New Year Everybody!

2009 has finally landed! Gosh, I cannot predict what I will do this year but I hope it will change my experience as a growing lady. We spent our New Year at home watching fireworks via Channel 19. The fireworks were kind of disappointing because the camera cannot even locate where it starts first but.. WHO CARES. 2009 is not about fireworks, its about CHANGE and OPENING new chapters. In fact, I am still watching news in Channel 19.  There are a lot of people in Las Vegas Strip; screaming, jumping behind the reporters (which is so funny), and waving at the camera.

I also notice New Year in Las Vegas was very quiet because.. Umm, the "camera" did not even show too much fireworks. I do not know.. I am bias in this topic because I am only watching this through Television. Later, I will ask my friends who are ACTUALLY there in the Las Vegas Strip.

Whatever happens in 2009, I hope for the best.. College is doing "good" so far, my family is very happy, and I am satisfied with my life. No extra material things needed. As long as my love ones are fine, I am fine too.

Speaking of New Year, my mother believes in luck! So.. She told me to OPEN all the lights in the house to welcome "wealth" . Hehe. It is soo freakin' bright in the house, my eyes hurts! But yeah, it is still COOL since its my first time to experience FULL lightness. Even our three bathrooms has open lights. Hehe. Maybe it is time to shut some lights since "New Year" countdown is over. Thank you mother, I love the lights in the house.. Brightness creates Happiness!

My Philosophy 124 Calendar for January 1 prints:  Truth the hour calls for - Adi Granth (Sikhism)

Wow, this quote is very deep but I also believe the truth sets us free if the "hour" calls for it. For example, if we are ask to tell the truth we should tell it right away to solve conflicts. This year we should be truthful for the things around us' to appreciate it more and to realize what we can do to CHANGE (if there is something wrong) it.  2009 is about change, hope, and new challenges. We should be ready to face this new challenges and if we FAIL, we should stand up. Because if we accept our mistakes it will create new experiences in life.  Nobody is perfect.

As for me, I hope more adventurous and exciting year ahead'. Thank you 2008 for making my year happy. I will miss you! You are part of my "years" in the Roxanne San Jose Chapter of life.

Once again, Happy New Year
